The Senate passed a measure on Thursday that will overhaul Oklahoma's A through F School Report Card system.

For years, educators have called Oklahoma's A through F school report card flawed and unfair. They say the focus on student test scores is a bad way to measure a school’s performance.

Under House Bill 1693, the newly proposed system will focus more on student academic growth from year to year.

A Republican state representative from Norman says he plans to resign at the end of the session to take a post with the Norman Chamber of Commerce.

Rep. Scott Martin announced Monday that he's submitted paperwork to the governor and House speaker indicating his intent to resign from his House seat effective May 31.

Martin has served for 11 years in House District 46, which includes most of north, west and south Norman, along with the town of Noble. He is in his last term and would have been term limited after the 2018 session.
