UPDATE: OKCPS Superintendent: 'I Have Not Resigned'

Oklahoma City Public Schools Superintendent Rob Neu and Tulsa Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Deborah Gist speak to legislators at the State Capitol in February.

UPDATE 10:49 a.m.: Oklahoma City Public Schools Superintendent Rob Neu issued a press release Tuesday morning refuting media reports that he has resigned:

I have not resigned. I am very disappointed that this was reported in the news media. I have no further comment at this time.

ORIGINAL POST: Several media outlets reported that the Superintendent of Oklahoma City Public Schools is planning on resigning this week.

But, as of Monday, Superintendent Rob Neu had not filed any formal resignation paperwork with the district. The school board has scheduled a special meeting for this Thursday to address the topic.

Neu’s contract is not officially over until the end of next school year, and this is only his second year on the job.

Last year, Neu rallied community members to get involved in the future of the district—and together they produced long-term goals—calling it "The Great Commitment." Neu's tenure has been plagued by discipline problems and major budget cuts due to a state revenue shortfall.

Oklahoma City Public Schools is the largest district in the state.
