Mustang Brewing Company Bounces Back From Tornado; Opens New Tasting Room

Mustang Brewing Company’s brand new tasting room opened Friday for the first time since sampling beer became legal in November.  Company President Tim Schoelen says the event was not only a momentous legal occasion; it was also a great way to celebrate Mustang’s move into a new brewhouse after the May tornado.  Schoelen says Mustang resumes full-scale commercial production in their new home in 2014 with a new series of craft beers.  Mustang also continues its collaborative relationship with the band Hanson and their MMMHops line of brews.

Oklahoman Holiday Hit Singer Gayla Peevey Talks About Fame and Hippos

Flip through the radio stations in your car or visit the mall this month and you’ll probably hear “I Want a Hippopotamus For Christmas” a time or two.  The song was recorded in 1953 by then 10-year-old Oklahoman Gayla Peevey.  The song’s popularity helped raise enough money to adopt Matilda, the Oklahoma City Zoo’s first hippo.  KOSU's Nikole Robinson Carroll had a chat with Peevey for the 60th anniversary of the song’s release.

Oklahoma Whovians See "Day of the Doctor..." and Share Some Insights

Whovians young and old came together in Oklahoma City for the "Doctor Who" feature film “Day of the Doctor.”  When asked to choose a favorite incarnation of the Doctor, their answers were as varied as their age range.   

New fans and devotees from the classic days of the series unite in their love of the Doctor, regardless of his form – but they don’t all agree on which of the Doctor’s companions they love most.

DHS Makes Big Change for Foster Care

After failing results and a lawsuit, DHS is taking a different approach to shore up its foster care system. The agency is outsourcing. Contracting foster parent recruitment and management out to private agencies that have more free time and available resources. 2 Cars, 5 Or 6 Bodies From Decades Ago Found In Oklahoma Lake

The two cars recovered from Foss Lake in western Oklahoma. Bodies were found inside both. The discoveries may help solve the mysteries of what happened to people who went missing decades ago.

Sheriffs' deputies who were testing a new sonar device on a lake in western Oklahoma's Custer County have come across two grim discoveries that may help solve two cold cases from decades ago.

The local Elk City Daily News says the "practice run for new sonar technology at Foss Lake became a recovery effort after officials discovered two vehicles submerged near the marina — with human remains inside."

It was Sept. 10, the newspaper says, when sonar detected "two cars side by side in about 12 feet of water."
