From the start of the legislative session on February 3rd, StateImpact Oklahoma had its eye on what was sure to be a heated issue: the coming expiration of a tax credit for horizontally drilled oil and gas wells. Without action, rates would go from one-percent for the first four years of a well’s life, back to 7 percent.
OK. The word fracking was added to the Merriam-Webster dictionary this month. It is defined as the injection of fluid into shale beds at high pressure in order to free up petroleum resources. The 14th annual deadCENTER Film Festival launches on Wednesday, June 11 in downtown Oklahoma City. While the festival is named for being in the "dead center" of Oklahoma City in arguably the "dead center" of America, there has been some confusion in the past that it's a horror film festival.
Well, since the festival falls on Friday the 13th for the first time this year, deadCENTER is embracing the name confusion and celebrating the horror genre.
