Kevin Durant

The Golden State Warriors earned their second NBA title in three years with a 129 to 120 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in Oakland Monday night, led by All-Star forward Kevin Durant's 39 points and strong bench scoring.

Durant's stellar play all season and throughout the playoffs vindicated Golden State's massive payout to the superstar in a controversial off-season deal.

Fellow All-Star Stephen Curry added 34 points.

But it was Durant, who left Oklahoma City for Oakland at the end of last season, who carried the team.

And time now to find out what's happening in the world of sports.

NEARY: This week we're joined by Andrea Kremer, Emmy Award-winning correspondent for HBO's "Real Sports" and the NFL Network. Hi, Andrea.

It's been a while since Code Switch correspondent Gene Demby and I gathered in a studio to talk sports for the Pop Culture Happy Hour spinoff we call The Giant Foam Finger. Kevin Durant has a fractured foot and the Oklahoma City Thunder say they are not sure how long the NBA's MVP will be sidelined.

General Manager Sam Presti said in a statement Sunday that Durant informed the team of "discomfort" in his right foot after practice a day earlier.

He underwent tests and the team says he was diagnosed with a "Jones" fracture. The team says traditional treatment requires surgery, and recent NBA cases have resulted in a return to play in six to eight weeks.
