Q:  How do I tell if I’m a sustaining member?

A:  Send an email to and someone will get back to you within one business day. During Membership Drives, the KOSU staff works as efficiently and quickly as possible, but there might be some delay in getting back to you because of the volume of correspondence with members.

Sustaining members donate to KOSU monthly on their credit or debit card, through an OSU payroll deduction plan or through an automated bank draft.  This monthly contribution continues on an ongoing basis, until KOSU is notified to cancel. Sustainers also do not receive renewal notices from KOSU! If you think you are a sustainer but are receiving renewal notices, please let us know so that we can resolve the issue; your pledge may be an installment pledge rather than a sustaining pledge, or we could have a duplicate account or email for you.

Q:  Are my monthly donations tax-deductible?

A:  Your contribution to KOSU is tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. To reduce costs, KOSU collaborates with the Oklahoma State University Foundation to make sure you get your tax receipt.  In January, the OSU Foundation will send you written confirmation (tax receipt) of your contributions to KOSU during the previous calendar year, via email or mail. Please consult your tax advisor or attorney for information about specific situations.  If you are receiving monthly notifications from the OSU Foundation for your sustaining membership, please let us know by calling (855) 808-5678 or by emailing

Q:  Do I need to call in during the Membership Drive to renew my pledge?

A:  No. As a sustaining member your membership is ongoing, and automatically renews each year.  To reflect your contribution, KOSU counts half of our sustaining members in the Fall pledge drive and half during the Spring drive. 

However, many sustaining members choose to call during the pledge drive to make an increase in their monthly contribution amount or to make a one-time additional gift.  Just make sure the volunteer answering the phone knows you are already a sustaining member.

Q:  How can I update my credit card number or expiration date for my monthly sustaining gift?

A:  There are several ways to update your account:

1)  Update your information online on our Sustaining Member Page.
2)  You can call KOSU at (855) 808-5678 and ask for someone in Member Services.
3)  If you received a letter requesting updated information, you may use the form and enclosed envelope to respond.

Q:  If my card expiration date changed but my card number did not, why do I have to give my card number again?

A:  KOSU adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to handling of donor credit and debit card account information. Payment Card Industry (PCI) regulations require that KOSU not store actual credit card information on its computers. You may call (855) 808-5678 or e-mail with the new expiration date. If you want to do this online, you will have to enter your new expiration date and all credit card information to complete the update.

Q:  I’d like to increase or change the monthly amount I have been giving.

A:  Send an email to, or call (855) 808-5678, and we’ll update your pledge to reflect the new amount you want charged monthly! You can also change your monthly payment amount on our Sustaining Member Page.

Q:  What are the benefits of my Sustaining Membership?

A:  Becoming a Sustaining Member is a way to put more of your dollars into the news and music on KOSU. As a Sustaining Member, you:

  • Become a part of the KOSU community.
  • Are automatically entered into station drawings.
  • Automatically renew each year – no more renewal notices, or wondering if your membership has expired.
  • Save us hundreds of thousands of dollars in postage, paper and administrative costs.
  • Invest more of your contribution into the news and music you value.

Q:  How can I cancel?

A:  You can stop or suspend your monthly giving at any time. Just send an email to or call Member Services at (855) 808-5678. Please be sure to let us know your name and address so we can confirm we are canceling the correct pledge, and if you email or leave a voicemail, be sure you receive a message back from us confirming that we have stopped your monthly contributions.

Q:  Does KOSU sell my name to companies or other nonprofits?

A:  No – when you donate to KOSUwe will not sell, trade or share your name, email address or any other contact information with any other organization.
