Oklahoma Voter Profile: Ligia Barona

Josh Robinson
Ligia Barona

As KGOU and KOSU began crafting ideas for our collaborative election project Oklahoma Engaged, we were interested in several forms of storytelling. This included informative and in-depth radio stories and video profiles of folks in a south Oklahoma City district.

In this video, 85-year-old Colombia native Ligia Barona talks about why she's voting for the first time. She became a naturalized citizen this year after spending the past 22 years in the United States. She says she has to support her country by voting for candidates that would help both the government and the country.

Oklahoma Engagedis a collaborative series between KGOU and KOSU, with support from the Kirkpatrick Foundation.

The KOSU news team curates news of interest to Oklahomans from various sources around the world. Our hope is inform, educate, and entertain.
KOSU is nonprofit and independent. We rely on readers like you to support the local, national, and international coverage on this website. Your support makes this news available to everyone.
