OKC Store Celebrates Free Comic Book Day

With the recent up rise in comic book culture it's no surprise that the, now, thirteen-year-old tradition of Free Comic Book Day has practically become a holiday.

KOSU's Maude Garrett reports on the annual event and how one local shop is participating.

Buck Berlin, owner of Oklahoma City's New World Comics, always celebrates free comic book day with the fans in mind and festivities running for a full 24 hours.

This year's activities include a Mario Kart tournament, free sketches by local artists and unique discounts for "bringing in anything that can help keep employees awake".

“It's all in the sprit it of the day. Because you don't want it to just drag on of the "Oh, they're just there for twenty-four hours." You need to have a reasons for everyone to come in.")

New World Comics begins its festivities at 9:00 AM this Saturday, May 3rd, and end at 9:00 PM May 4th.
