The Oklahoma State Department of Education has released its plan for a revised A through F School Report Card system.
Schools will still receive an A, B, C, D, or F based on their performance on test scores. But now other factors—graduation rates, chronic absenteeism, and academic growth—will be included in the grades.
The State Department of Education is revamping it's A through F system in order to comply with the new federal education law, the Every Student Succeeds Act. All states are required to have a school accountability system- that’s also used to identify failing schools that may need state intervention.
The State Board of Education will vote on the proposal at their meeting next Thursday. If passed, the lawmakers will consider the proposal during the upcoming legislative session.
