The Moth Is Coming To Cain's Ballroom In Tulsa

Allison Evans

The Moth, where true stories are told live without notes, is bringing its Mainstage event to Tulsa’s historic Cain’s Ballroom, located at 423 North Main Street, on Thursday, November 15th beginning at 7:30pm.

This curated event will feature five story tellers who develop and shape their stories with The Moth’s directors, building community by bringing entertainment and enlightenment together.

“The story has always been at the heart of public radio’s DNA, and that’s why I’m so very excited to welcome The Moth Mainstage to Oklahoma,” said Kelly Burley, KOSU Station Director. “Whether the focus is loss, discovery, guilt or redemption, or anything else along the path of life’s journey, each story you hear, whether it is through a live event, the radio or podcasts, gives listeners an opportunity to reach beyond their own experiences to learn from the deeply personal remembrances of others.”

Mainstage is one in a suite of community and education storytelling programs from The Moth, which also includes the Peabody Award-winning The Moth Radio Hour, heard on more than 460 radio stations across the country, including KOSU, Saturdays at 4pm at 107.5 FM and 107.3 FM in Tulsa and northeastern Oklahoma, 91.7 FM in Oklahoma City, 88.3 FM in Stillwater, 94.9 FM in Ponca City and at kosu.org.

KOSU and The Moth are also working to bring Mainstage to Tulsa with OK SO Storyslam, which has developed a vibrant local and regional storytelling community, to identify potential stories that may be included in future episodes of The Moth Radio Hour and The Moth Podcast.

The Moth Mainstage is a general admission, seated event. Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased here or by calling the Cain’s Ballroom box office at 918-584-2306.
