The ground is shaking in Stillwater and residents are taking action to protect their property, the environment, and their lives.

Stillwater resident Angela Spotts founded the group Stop Fracking Payne County.
It educates community members on the science, economics, and politics of the link between earthquakes and hydraulic fracturing.
Standing at the corner of 56th and Fairground by the largest fracking well in Stillwater, Spotts explains how the earthquakes affect everyone.
“I have friends that can tell how the earthquake literally ripples through their home. I know friends that are talking about moving. It’s causing conflict in our relationships because everybody’s under a lot of stress. The drilling itself when you live by it is a phenomenal stress on the family.”
Spotts encourages people to get involved with the group through Facebook.
A new effort includes yard signs, which she proudly admits, are already being reported stolen.
