A Guide to Firework Celebrations Across Oklahoma

KOSU wishes all of our members and listeners a great, happy and safe 4th of July.

Remember that it’s illegal to buy, sell or use fireworks within many cities across Oklahoma. Check your local laws.

We tracked down a couple dozen Independence Day celebrations around the state. We know there are more than what's listed below, but hopefully you'll find a spot to celebrate the weekend and see pretty colors in the sky go boom.

FRIDAY, JULY 1

Bixby - E 121 St & S. Memorial Dr
7pm - 10pm (fireworks at 9:30pm)

Bixby's Freedom Celebration features a kids fun zone with live music from DJ Dan. There will be food trucks and several guest speakers, including U.S. Congressman Jim Bridenstine and state Rep. Chuck Strohm.

Blanchard - 10th & HWY 62
6pm - 10pm

Blanchard's Independence Celebration features a carnival and helicopter rides, as well as performances by Banana Seat and the Oklahoma City Symphonic Band.

SATURDAY, JULY 2

Guthrie - Corner of Wentz & Oklahoma Avenues
5pm (fireworks after the music)

Red Brick Nights in Guthrie is a block party with food trucks and pop-up shops. There will be live music at 6pm from Sherree Chamberlain, Equilibrium, Kinsey Charles, and Tyler Hopkins and the Rebellion, with fireworks immediately after the music.

SUNDAY, JULY 3

Yukon - Chisholm Trail Park
5pm (fireworks at 10pm)

The first day of Yukon's Freedom Fest features a live outdoor music show by The Air Force Band/Air National Guard of the Southwest from 5:30pm - 7:45pm, followed with a patriotic tribute to the U.S. Armed Forces by Irv Wagner’s Concert Band at 8:15pm. There will be FREE Freddy’s Frozen Custard served at 6pm.

MONDAY, JULY 4

Edmond - UCO campus
6pm (fireworks at 9:30pm)

Edmond's LibertyFest features inflatables, rides, and an obstacle course. There will be free watermelon beginning at 6:30. Get your face painted while a DJ plays a mix of oldies, country, and pop songs. The fireworks will start at 9:30pm.

Enid - Meadowlake Park
7pm (fireworks at 9:50pm)

Enid's July 4th celebration will feature train rides, a ferris wheel, carousel, and kiddie rides. The Enid Symphony Orchestra will play for one hour, beginning at 8:30pm and concluding with the fireworks show. Earlier that morning, families can participate in the 34th annual fishing derby.

Hillsdale
Events begin at 8am (fireworks after dark)

Hillsdale's 4th of July kicks off at 8am with the Firecracker 5K and a fun run/walk. Throughout the day, there will also be a parade, turtle races, and a cake walk. There will also be a 3-on-3 basketball tournament at noon and a wiffle ball game at 8:30pm.

Moore - Buck Thomas Park
Events begin at 8am (fireworks after dark)

Moore's A Celebration in the Heartland features a car, truck, and bike show from 8am to 2pm. The celebration will also feature a children's tent, a sand pit, arts and crafts, and helicopter rides. Live music will be featured throughout the day, with Shawna Russell performing at 7pm.

Oklahoma City - Riversport Adventures
All day (fireworks after dark)

Enjoy paddleboarding, kayaking, whitewater tubing or rafting, or take a zipline across the Oklahoma River. There's also climbing walls, a youth zone, and extreme jumping. Preorder a Big Water Grill picnic for an easy dinner option.

Ponca City - Lake Ponca
7pm (fireworks at 9:50pm)

Ponca City's Fourth of July Fireworks Show will be choreographed to music heard on on KPNC-FM 101 Country.

Stillwater - Boomer Lake Park
6:30pm - 10pm (fireworks at 9:35pm)

The Chickasaw Boomer Blast Fireworks Show features inflatables, food trucks, and access to the new splash pad. The 19th Annual Family Fishing Tournament will begin earlier that day from 6pm - 11am.

Tulsa - River West Festival Park
5pm - 10pm (fireworks at 9:30pm)

Tulsa's FreedomFest features inflatables, laser tag, and a rock climbing wall. There will also be dancing near the Festival Overlook.

Tulsa - Veterans Park
5pm - 10pm (fireworks at 9:30pm)

Tulsa's FreedomFest features inflatables for kids and live music from Paul Benjaman Band and Corey Kent White. Both Tulsa celebrations will features a special aerial flyover by the 125th Fighter Wing – Oklahoma Air National Guard – The Tulsa “Vipers.”

Weatherford - Rader Park
6pm (fireworks at 9:50pm)

Weatherford's 4th of July celebration features inflatable toys for the kids and live music from Jared Deck and Cora Gutel. At 9:30pm, the Weatherford Community Band fires up a salute to America before the fireworks start popping at 9:50pm.

Yukon - City Park and Chisholm Trail Park
Events begin at 8am, with fireworks at 10pm

The second day of Yukon's Freedom Fest features a full day of events, including a children's triathlon at 8am, a sand art contest at 10am, and a children's parade at 11am. Superfreak will perform at 5pm, followed by the Oklahoma City Philharmonic at 8pm. Free watermelon and ice cream will be served at 7pm. Oh! And don't forget about the hot dog eating contest at 8pm!
