KOSU Takes First in National Competition The Public Radio News Directors Incorporated selected KOSU as first place winner for a radio news series called “Mali: An Example of Freedom.” The series examined how Mali’s radio industry is helping its citizens learn how to be part of a democratic society. It was produced by Rachael Hubbard as part of a project that sent her and other Oklahoma media members to Mali to evaluate the media there. Mali journalists also visited the U.S. for training. The exchange project was jointly sponsored by the Department of Agricultural Education, Communications and Leadership at OSU and the U.S. Department of State to help the fledgling democracy in Mali. With this latest honor, KOSU has won 17 national awards for broadcast journalism excellence.
