The Oklahoma Alliance for Public Transportation and Oklahoma City ward two city councilman Dr. Ed Shadid will host a Transit Townhall on Tuesday, February 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the Farmers Public Market. Jarrett Walker, transit planner and author of the book Human Transit, will be the main speaker. Transit planners from the national consulting firm Nelson Nygaard will also be present. Nelson Nygaard is currently studying strategies for improving the METRO Transit bus system. The Nelson Nygaard study is an outgrowth of APT’s 2012 push for Sunday bus service and its request for a study of rapid transit feasibility in Oklahoma City.
