Dust Bowl Cabaret

November 2nd 2012 7:00pm - 9:30pm at OSU Library Peggy V. Helmerich Browsing Room 2nd floor

Come hear the 198 String Band as they present a multimedia experience centering on songs from the Dust Bowl. The members of the group -- Tom Naples, Michael Frisch, and Margaret Milliron -- are musicians and historians who are interested as much in the context of songs as in their content. They have uncovered archival versions of a number of little-known songs written by Dust Bowl survivors and migrants, and they have merged that music with historical images for a very moving presentation.

The Friday night performance will begin at 7:00 with a light reception, and music will start at 7:30. For more information on the 198 String Band and their previous presentations, visit http://www.musicfromthedepression.com/index.html
