"She & His" Mixed Media Works by Marilyn Artus & Richard Kleffman

July 6th 2012 6:00pm - 10:00pm at a.k.a. gallery

Richard Kleffman transforms and reclaimed objects into sculptural collages using humor and irony.
"I like to make someone smile or laugh, but then to also have them question what it means to them," says Kleffman.
Marilyn Artus uses "female" art forms and materials juxtaposed with controversial images to confront patriarchy, religion and politics.
"When I'm alone in my studio I think about the generations of women that preceded me. I think about the lives they led. I think about the things they weren't able to say," says Artus.
Together these two mixed media artists push the symbolic boundaries of the physical objects they are working with to create new meanings through combinations.
She & His opens July 6th and closes July 28th, with an opening reception from 6-10pm July 6th for the Paseo's First Friday.
