Oklahoma State University Wind Ensemble

November 14th 2013 - 7:30pm

The Oklahoma State University Wind Ensemble will present its second concert of the fall semester Thursday November 14, 2013 at 7:30 pm in the Seretean Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall. Dr. Joseph Missal is conductor of the group.

Composed of the finest graduate and undergraduate wind and percussion soloists at the university, the group is dedicated to the finest wind repertoire, regardless of the period or disposition of instrumental forces. The group has been selected as the featured large university honor band for the 2014 Oklahoma Music Educators Association Convention.

University of Michigan guest composer Michael Daugherty will collaborate with the ensemble in three of his works for wind band. These include On the Air, Firecracker, and Raise the Roof. OSU Professor of Oboe Celeste Johnson Frehner will be featured soloist on Firecracker. Daugherty is a Grammy Award winning composer and one of the ten most performed composers in the country.

Repertoire also on the program will be Paul Dooley's Point Blank and Southern Harmony by Donald Grantham.

Admission to the concert is $8 adults/$6 students and senior citizens. All proceeds benefit the OSU Department of Music.
