A small Georgia town in 1913 grapples with the darker side of racism and anti-semitism in Jason Robert Brown’s acclaimed musical, Parade, presented in its regional premier by Upstage Theatre at the Mitch Park Amphitheatre in Edmond June 20-22 and June 27-29. Parade tells the true story of a young Jewish factory superintendent named Leo Frank who is falsely accused of the murder of a thirteen year old employee, named Mary Phagan, and his infamous trial and prosecution. His wife, Lucille Frank believes her husband to be innocent and fights for his pardon and the commute of his sentence. Through these tragic events, Leo and Lucille find a way back to one another and their love. PARENTAL DISCRETION IS ADVISED. Shows begin at 8pm. Tickets are $16 for adults and $8 for children while kids 4 and under are free. Please bring lawn chairs and/or picnic blankets.
