Better Block OKC: Farmers Market District

May 4th 2013 - 8:00am

Better Block is a grassroots event that helps show a vision for what urban, historical, people-places like the FARMERS MARKET DISTRICT could be – reimagined and revitalized. Presented by Fowler Toyota, Better Block OKC will take place Saturday, May 4th, 2013 8am to 4pm in the Farmers Market District at SW 2nd and Klein Ave.

Better Block OKC is a grassroots event that plants seeds for change. Community volunteers make temporary improvements with the creativity and help of volunteers, business owners, and people who want to see a place like Farmers Market District defined and bustling again – to show a more permanent vision for places that matter.

FARMERS MARKET DISTRICT IS A PLACE THAT MATTERS. It is a historical, urban place –with a purpose that has been waiting to be reimagined and revitalized.SO LET’S GO BACK TO THE START. Let’s build a thriving local market experience – that feeds our bodies and our community.

Imagine smells and flavors, music playing, colorful food trucks and families and friends walking from stall to stall of fresh local food and handmade wares. Listen to the conversations. People are talking to farmers, shopkeeps and vendors, about coffee roasting, canning and tomato growing. Imagine this scene, this routine, as part of any summer Saturday. Now imagine it all year long. It won’t happen in just one event, or even one summer of market days – but seeds have been planted.

Join us May 4th, 8am-4pm in the Farmers Market District. Bring your family, your appetite and your imagination.
