Celebrating Animals/Confronting Cruelty: Getting Political for Animals!

February 28th 2013 7:00pm - 9:00pm at Payne County Democratic Headquarters

    Cynthia Armstrong has been active in animal protection since the late 1980's and became the HSUS Oklahoma State Director in 2005. She previously was the campaign manager for the Oklahoma Coalition Against Cockfighting (OCAC) and helped to spearhead a ban on cockfighting in Oklahoma. She served as president and founding member of the Oklahoma Humane Federation and as president of Volunteers for Animal Welfare. She was also on the boards of the Association of Certified Cruelty Investigators and the Central Oklahoma Humane Society and was a member of the Citizens' Advisory Committee to the Oklahoma City Animal Welfare Division. Currently, Armstrong is an advisory board member of Blaze's Tribute Equine Rescue in Jones, Oklahoma. Armstrong is a native Oklahoman, a grad of the University of Oklahoma and a resident of Oklahoma City.

    Ms. Armstrong is also presently preparing for the Humane Lobby Day at the Oklahoma State Capitol coming up on March 7th. This is when citizens concerned about animal welfare and protections have the opportunity to meet with their elected officials and legislators to discuss bills and laws which will impact the lives of animals.    Doors will open at 6:30pm for the Stillwater presentation at the PCD HQ, 301 N. Main. The program begins at 7pm. The public is invited to attend this February 28th special event.
