The 37th Annual William Inge Theater Festival at Independence Community College takes place May 9-12. The Honoree is Carlyle Brown, one of the most produced African-American playwrights in our country. Mr. Brown's plays are sophisticated, often-history inspired looks at the African-American experience. The Festival includes a multi-media Tribute to his work. There will also be a full production of one of his plays, scenes from plays by William Inge, and the New Play Lab. The latter brings 20 emerging playwrights from across the nation to Independence for an intensive workshop and reading of one of their short plays. Visit www.ingecenter.org for more information.
