Arts Day at the Capitol

May 8th 2013 9:00am - 3:30pm at Oklahoma State Capitol

Arts Day at the Capitol is when arts advocates come to the Oklahoma State Capitol in Oklahoma City to visit their legislators and ask them to support the Oklahoma Arts Council. The event is organized by Oklahomans for the Arts, Inc. At Arts Day at the Capitol, representatives of all parts of Oklahoma’s extraordinary arts community come together for one day to:
Talk about arts, culture and arts education
Make new friends and grow their network
Educate legislators about the importance of the arts in Oklahoma
Demonstrate the strength and vitality of Oklahoma's arts community

Never before has it been more important to advocate for the Oklahoma Arts Council, a state agency that receives an annual appropriation from the Oklahoma Legislature. Last year it was more than $4 million and it qualified Oklahoma for nearly another $1 million in federal funds.
