OKC Gets Chalked for a Good Cause
“Chalk the Walk” Event to Benefit Family Builders

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA. –Families, artists and onlookers will be encouraged to pick up a piece of chalk and express their creativity at the second annual “Chalk the Walk” Festival on Saturday, June 15, 2013 (Father’s Day weekend) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This fun-filled chalk art event will offer family oriented activities and art competitions using chalk as the medium and pavement as the canvas. The event is hosted by Family Builders, a local non-profit and will be held in the Plaza District at NW 16th Street, between Classen and Penn.

“We are so excited to hold this fun, family-oriented event again this year,” says Laura Gamble, executive director of Family Builders. “We are looking forward to filling the sidewalks of the Plaza District with unique and beautiful chalk art. This is a great way to involve the whole family in a fun day, all to benefit our mission of preventing child abuse and family violence.”

Activities at this year’s “Chalk the Walk” will include live music, food and hands-on activities for the whole family. The sidewalk chalk contest is open to artists of all ages and experience levels. Prizes will be awarded based on age group, and local celebrity judges will pick the winning contestants.

Admission to “Chalk the Walk” is FREE for families and individuals, while artists of varying age categories can register for $20 per sidewalk square. Families with children under 12 can register as a family for $30. Artist registration is available online at .

Family Builders plays a vital role in breaking the cycle of child abuse, neglect and other family violence. Event proceeds will help further Family Builders’ in their mission to strengthen Oklahoma families.
