Rural People Across Country Help OK Schools
Farmers and ranchers from across the country donated a $100,000 for rural Oklahoma schools to get shelters.
Part of the money is already earmarked for one small school.
The Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation provided the check to Shelter Oklahoma Schools from thousands of people in 45 different states across the nation.
President Jeramy Rich says farmers and ranchers understand the toll of natural disasters.
“In so many instances these were people that were dealing with natural disasters in their own area and still stepped up to be a part of our efforts here in Oklahoma.”
Friend public school northeast of Chickasha is getting $25,000 for a shelter to protect its 223 students and 31 staff.
Rich says donations continue to pour in from across the US, and he hopes to make another donation soon to the Shelter Oklahoma Schools program.
