Oklahoma oilman T. Boone Pickens is joining great people like Will Rogers, Jim Thorpe and Sam Walton with a portrait in the State Capitol.

The unveiling grew a huge crowd of dignitaries.

A veritable who’s who of state officials packed the Governor’s Blue Room to honor the 84-year-old billionaire and philanthropist and the unveiling of his portrait.

Governor Fallin calls Pickens a man who exemplifies the true spirit of the State of Oklahoma.

“Hard work, perseverance, began with humble background in Holdenville, Oklahoma, has shown the character, the integrity, the resilience that has made Oklahoma the great state that it is.”

Pickens, a graduate of then Oklahoma A&M, has donated hundreds of millions of dollars to OSU in both academics and athletics.

The portrait by artist Mike Wimmer is hanging in the north hall of the second floor rotunda.
