DHS head pledges continued improvement

Director Ed Lake, hired in November, has been going on a listening tour across the state to hear the concerns from employees, management teams, and others…

“Then presenting that to a group like this sort of continues to reinforce that a lot of the things that many people brought up all across the state are the issues that we need to work on.”

Better communication with providers and partners along with customer service training for employees are just a few changes he has proposed.

Lake has also challenged DHS employees to help keep new ideas coming.

Change, and a lot of it is ahead, but don’t expect it to happen overnight, says Lake. He hopes that DHS will:

“Truly be a caring organization. A place where people are helped, where we perform at a high level, and we express our care.”

Lake also said they’ll continue to put in place changes as part of the Pinnacle Plan.
