A 31-year veteran and former Chief of Staff under then Secretary of State Colon Powell during the Bush Administration comes to Oklahoma to petition for peace in the Middle East

The visit coincides with a new campaign by Americans Against the Next War.

Retired Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson who now works as a professor of government and public policy at William and Mary in Virginia says diplomacy can still work without a war with Iran.

Wilkerson says the first thing which must be done is to realize the current struggle is all about who has power in the region.

“It’s time it became about preventing war. It’s time it became about bringing Iran back into the international community as a responsible regional and global player.”

Americans Against the Next War says they got a huge response on their previous billboards calling for no war in Iran.

Organizers say they are starting a new billboard campaign calling on Congress to promote peace in the Middle East.
