With the 2013 fast approaching, employees at the Department of Human Services are getting to know their new boss who just took the reins a month ago.

Director Ed Lake came on to fill the shoes of Howard Hendrick who had spent more than 14 years in that position.

But, Lake himself brings a lengthy resume from the Department of Human Services in Tennessee over 38 years going from a child welfare worker to Deputy Director.

KOSU’s Michael Cross got a chance to sit down with Director Lake to talk about the future of the state’s largest agency.

The passage of State Question 765 resulted in the elimination of the Commission of Human Services with the agency now under the control of the Governor.

There will be four advisory panels within the agency which will answer to the Director and Governor.
