“DEQ Investigates Possible Contamination In Bethany Private Water Well”

Bethany city water has been declared safe by the state Department of Environmental Quality, but the agency wants to collect samples from private wells in the area this week. That has local residents, like Paula Douglass, worried.
The contamination is linked to chemicals used for cleaning and degreasing parts at a former aircraft manufacturer’s facility at Wiley Post Airport. DEQ hopes to have the results of private well testing by Christmas.
The department has spent the last year testing water at [the] Bethany treatment plant and neighboring businesses. So far …no contaminants have been found.
