A year ago, Cheyenne Bishop, then a sophomore at the University of Minnesota, wasn’t sure how she would vote on Election Day. In Minnesota on Nov. 6, voters were asked if the state’s constitution should be amended to define marriage as a union between a man and a woman. Cheyenne struggled with how she might address the question.

We first introduced you to Cheyenne Bishop last year. Then, she felt as though she was being pulled between her beliefs (she’s Mormon) and wanting a cousin, who identifies as bisexual, to be able to have the same rights as others who wish to marry.

She voted against Minnesota’s marriage amendment last week, but says she isn’t sure that she made the right decision. Here, she reflects on her vote and what it means.
