If American — Tulsa’s largest private employer — stays in business and continues servicing a major part of its air fleet at the Tulsa airport industrial complex, the bet pays off in a big way. If, on the other hand, it doesn’t — if the airline fails financially or simply pulls up stakes in Tulsa — it’s “the biggest boondoggle in city history,” Bynum said. Frankly, he said, he hasn’t made up his mind.
