I am writing this to let our government know that there is a real problem with this PTSD to the point that many of the single vets from Iraq making it to the streets as they can not cope with the noises , thunder or even being around children due to the flashbacks of Iraq. The small amount of psychological rehabilitation is not enough for many to come back to the US. In NC I have realized that resources are limited to the few rehab centers in larger cities. there are only two facilities for the whole state in Fayetteville & Jacksonville on the bases. They both are located on the eastern part of the state. As a civilian who listens & outreaches people including homeless , I am finding the same trend with our new era of Vets as happened previous . many are going into hiding & turning to substances to make make the pain go away. There needs a website and postings everywhere so they can find free help to the suffering Vets have no funding due to the cuts in their retirement ,which is only achieved if you put in 20 years now, . I just hope someone can help.

Hang in there and if you have just 10% SC. Then sign up for college with the "Voc-Rehab Program. It will put more money into the house whole. If you need money for car repairs, goto them ask for a loan. they will ask you how much you will pay them back each money from your school check. This is also good for food, back-rent if needed, clothing for you and the family. If you need help in a course while in college. Then go back and let them know that too, and they will pay someone of your choose/choosings to help you study/take notes for you if needed.

Wow, I was over there in 1991. Filed a claim in 1997 they denied it for lack of evidence. Refilled in 2004. In 2011 the BVA sends me a letter stating all the mistakes that were made on my claim...even admitting that they had found the diagnosis in my military medical records, then states they were lost for a time and remanded almost everything to the AMC in 2011. They say now that my PTSD has been awarded a service connection, filed bankruptcy, lost my home. But, it has to wait in line to be fair, even when they admit to mishandling the claim....
I know that someday I will get it through the system, I just hope I can keep an address long enough for them to send it to me.
