Governor Fallin highlights Oklahoma’s story at RNC

Filed by Ben Allen in Local News.
August 28, 2012

The story of Harold Hamm was the focus of Governor Mary Fallin’s speech…

“The son of sharecroppers, and the youngest of 13 children, Harold grew up in the small town of Lexington, Oklahoma.”

In  a primetime slot at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, the Governor used the story of the CEO of Continental Resources to illustrate what she says is the power of the individual…

“He is just one of the many visionaries and innovators in the private sector that are the true drivers of economic growth and job creation.”

“And that’s what President Obama just doesn’t get.”

Governor Fallin’s speech centered on a common Republican refrain: less government regulation means a stronger America. The theme of the night – We Built That – comes from a speech by President Obama where he said quote: you didn’t build that. But nonpartisan Fact Check dot org says in context, the President said government funded education and infrastructure helped build this great American system.
