co-housing is a fairly new term that describes a genuine community, a form you don't see much in the built environment of conventional zoning that separates people from each other, people from industry, people from services, people from transportation, etc. Many Stillwaterites will recognize this combination of communally owned yet personal property hybrid model as the 100+ year old YostLake.com just six short miles northeast of Stillwater. It is an old idea made new again because it is timeless and it works beautifully.

Having seen a couple of close relatives struggle with the issue of stay-in-my-home/get-proper-care, I'm really excited to know that Stillwater is making this kind of strides. Congratulations to Oakcreek Community!

It is really hard to capture all that Oakcreek is with just words. It was fun working with Ben and we think he did a good job. Come see for yourself what this new neighborhood really looks and feels like...any Saturday 10-12 or Sunday 3-5.

I appreciated this story as a co-housing community makes so much sense to me. I am curious if the new co-housing community "competes" with other types of assisted living places, or nursing homes, etc., especially since there are so many new assisted living places being built in Stillwater now. How does that affect them getting to full capacity and how do they compete with that?
