KOSU Wins SPJ Awards
KOSU was honored with a number of awards from the Society of Professional Journalists at their annual banquet Saturday night.
Michael Cross came away with one first place finish, a second place award, and two third place recognitions. Michael won first place in the feature radio category for his story on rising cattle prices. He also won third place in that category for a report on the drought’s effect on Oklahoma’s water supply.
Michael’s story on local businesses hurting during the NBA lockout earned him second place in the sports reporting category for radio.
Michael also won third place for the best reporting portfolio overall among radio reporters.
Ben Allen’s story on a plan to commercially harvest thousands of acres of potentially dangerous castor beans won first place for investigative reporting for radio.
In addition, Ben won third place for spot news in the radio category for his report on the Oklahoma State University plane crash that killed four in November.
