Unconstitutional and unenforceable.

That’s the ruling from an Oklahoma County District judge on a law which would have required a woman to undergo an ultrasound before an abortion.

A woman would have also been forced to view the ultra sound and have the doctor describe the fetus in detail.

The New York based group Center for Reproductive Rights which was representing a Tulsa women’s clinic in the lawsuit says it’s pleased with the ruling.

US Legal Program Director Bebe Anderson says this was a highly intrusive measure from Oklahoma lawmakers.

“The state has overreached, tried to insert themselves between a patient and her health care provider. Fortunately the court has blocked that and found it unconstitutional under the Oklahoma constitution.”

Anderson says she feels strongly the law will remain unconstitutional even if appealed by the state.

The bill has been on hold for two years pending the decision.

    Finally, some common sense !

All of these government-mandated tests and procedures–who was going to pay for them? Who was going to force practitioners to perform them? Not just this, but all of those silly drug tests for cheerleaders and athletes. It's all so very vastly misdirected.
