President Obama’s denial of the application for the XL Pipeline draws the ire of Oklahoma’s Governor and Lieutenant Governor.

Governor Fallin released a statement on Wednesday saying rejection of the application would be a sad day for those who care about energy independence and job creation.

Lieutenant Governor Todd Lamb says a decision like the XL Pipeline needs to be about policy not politics.

“We need to get Keystone Pipeline approved it would be a ton of jobs for Oklahomans in addition to everything else energy efficiency, cost effectiveness and homeland security.”

Supporters say the $7 billion pipeline would bring more than $1 billion in investment to Oklahoma.

The Obama Administration says a deadline of February 21st to approve the application is “purely political” and does not give the State Department enough time to properly view the pipeline proposal.
