Oklahoma ranks last in the US for the percentage of adults visiting a dentist last year, so dental professionals are stepping up to help.

More than 2,000 Oklahomans are expected at the third annual Mission of Mercy free dental clinic to be held this year in McAlester on February 3rd and 4th.

Lieutenant Governor Todd Lamb attended the second annual event in Oklahoma City and says there was never any apprehension on the faces of the patients.

“Young to old people were ecstatic when their name and number was called because they needed the service, much needed service, and it was provided in a very up to date way of course.”

The event provided through a grant from Delta Dental of Oklahoma is expected to include more than 130 chairs for patients and nearly 1,400 volunteers.

Organizers say they still need about 300 more volunteers to register at okmom.org.
