The Keystone XL Pipeline is designed to carry tar sands oil. This is a very toxic substance, not crude oil, more like tar. It has to be heated and mixed with other toxic substances to force it through the pipes. The pipes will be glued together. There has never, in the history of the planet, been a 1700 mile, 36 inch pipeline, carrying a hot, toxic substance. And it is planned to go right down through the heart of Indian country. It will create lots of jobs, alright. Trying to clean up toxic spills. Just look at what has happened to the Kalamazoo River. That tar sands oil is heavier than water and will drop to the bottom of our streams, lakes, rivers and aquifers. If you can figure out how to get it out, please contact the EPA. They'd like to know.

But how long would those jobs last? Once the pipeline is built the pipeline builders will be unemployed. If we seek alternative sources of energy and concentrate on going green...those jobs will be longer lasting. Jobs are not the only issue. The pipeline plans are sketchy.not complete..and it was the right thing to do for our president to step in and do what he did.

The Keystone Pipeline would provide some great aid to thousands of people looking to get back to work now. We need a decision on this pipeline matter, at the very least, the pipeline would provide at least 5,000 jobs immediately and could create up to 20,000. That alone, should be enough for us to at least consider the immediate and future benefits of building a pipeline. It would be wise for us to decide soon on a matter that would help a significant number of Americans in a time of economic downturn.
