The Impact of ArtsScience Prize

ArtsScience Prize has 36 students enrolled in the program. They meet Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 4-6 in downtown Oklahoma City. A typical session starts with F.U.S.E. (Fuel, Unity, Spontaneity, Exploration). Students hear from a guest speaker from the Oklahoma City community, anyone from a leader in the arts to someone who works with 3D models every day.
Then, they get to work. Students split off into their groups, and work on their projects. Each group is guided by a mentor, who helps direct the discussion but tries to stay out of the conversation as much as possible. They are really there to offer support and keep things focused. There are students from at least 14 schools participating in the program:

We are pleased to have Ben share the story of the Oklahoma ArtScience Prize. He mentioned that one of the teams from last year's pilot program are still working on their project. The amazing thing is that both of last year's teams are still hard at work. We are so proud of both the biodegradable bottle team that he mentioned and the team that is working on an art installation to teach about Oklahoma's drinking water issues.
