The race to fill the Tulsa state Representative seat being vacated by Dan Sullivan draws a Republican and Democratic challenger.

Tulsa non-profit Manager Dan Arthrell is running as a Democrat in House District 71 and says he’s not concerned about the strong GOP showing there.

“I want to bring all the people together in my district to support someone who will work together to solve the problems of the state and district 71. We’ve got a diverse community there.”

Tulsa resident Evelyn Rogers ran against US Senator Tom Coburn for the GOP nomination last year and lost.

She says she wants to be available to answer people’s needs.

“Then you have somebody listening to them and saying “okay” see if this can be brought about, is this a possibility, is this something that could happen.”

If no one else registers as a Republican or Democrat a general election will be held on February 14th.
