Long term budgeting in the federal government seems to be more dream than reality. Years have passed since Congress didn’t have to turn to a continuing resolution to keep government open. But if a continuing resolution didn’t make it through in time, a proposal from Oklahoma Representative James Lankford’s wouldn’t close the doors, but it would cut one percent across the board.
In an extended interview, KOSU’s Ben Allen talks to the Representative about his proposed legislation.

Budgets need to include ALL of government spending when reductions are considered. All too often, the only things considered for cuts are services to the poor. With a very large portion of spending going to benefit those who already have, this seems both unwise and unjust.
