Oklahoma veterans remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice on Pearl Harbor Day, 70 years ago.
In the bitterly cold Wednesday morning, about ten people stand to at a wreath laying ceremony at the Veterans’ memorial in the State Capitol complex.
Major General Rita Aragon, Oklahoma Secretary of Military and Veterans Affairs, attended saying although the ceremony is simple, it’s increasingly important.
“Warriors don’t do what they do for recognition, but those of us who are left behind, it’s our job to recognize them. And particularly when we’re talking about world war two and the USS Oklahoma here.”
More than 2,400 Americans were killed and nearly 1,300 wounded when Japanese forces attacked Pearl Harbor on December seventh, 1941.
Every day the US loses about a thousand aging veterans of World War Two.
