Oklahoma is heading into the holiday season with the economy moving in the right direction.

State Treasurer Ken Miller says consumer confidence in Oklahoma is strong, and even a slight increase in the unemployment rate is good news.

Miller says 2,200 jobs were created last month, but the labor force increase by almost six-thousand.

“That’s why we see the slight uptick to 6.1% for the unemployment rate, when the labor force grows that’s telling us that people are coming back in because they’re feeling more confident about getting a job.”

He says revenue collections jumped more than 13% above November of last year, marking the fourth double digit jump in the past seven months.

He says increased consumer confidence in the state and country means a very Merry Christmas for retailers in Oklahoma.
