The holiday season brings parties — with coworkers, family, and friends. And at those parties, alcohol often flows. For a different option, Triple A Oklahoma put together a contest to find the best tasting mocktail—that is, a cocktail without alcohol. I got a taste of the winning drink with Steven Schuster and Melissa Skaggs of Iron Star Urban Barbeque in Oklahoma City…

Ginger Peter (Iron Star Urban BBQ):

1.5 oz ginger and habanero simple syrup (Boil water and sugar until the sugar dissolves completely. Add in a pinch of ginger and cut up habaneros)

2 oz carrot juice

1 lime wedge squeezed

Pour ingredients into a shaker. Shake until mixed, then empty into a glass with ice. Top with non-alcoholic ginger beer, garnish with a fresh whole habanero pepper, and enjoy.

Harvest Time Cooler (Red PrimeSteak):

1 oz Main root sarsaparilla

2 oz apple juice

.5 oz lemon juice

3 bar spoons pumpkin butter

Shake all ingredients and serve chilled.
