A task force looking at the possible elimination of tax credits for businesses held the first of two final meetings on Wednesday.
The penultimate meeting of the task force on state tax credits ended with several recommendations to lawmakers for consideration in the next session.
Chairman David Dank told members these credits to businesses represent hundreds of millions of dollars which come out of the pockets of hard working Oklahomans.
“I refuse to tell the taxpayers we represent that they could not get a road repaired or they had to pay more taxes because we gave a bushel basket full of money to someone else.”
Major recommendations included ending transferrable tax credits, requiring a cost analysis and auditing of tax credits and requiring future tax credits to contain caps and limits.
A final meeting will be held sometime in December.
