Pop Culture Happy Hour: The Art Of The Memoir And What We’ll Have On The Side

Filed by KOSU News in Art & Life.
November 18, 2011

We’ll be taking Thanksgiving week off, so this is the week when we cover our turkey topic. In our case, that means exploring what side dishes improve a pop culture turkey — in other words, the small things that improve the bad things. Bionic ears! Vampire camp! Lots more!

But first, we spend some time on memoirs, kicking off from Darrell Hammond’s unusual new book. The importance of tone, the problems with swagger, and the blessings of generosity all come into play. And Glen, for one, is not sure that he even likes memoir as a form.

We hit a quick round of corrections where we all apologize for recent slips, and then it’s time for what’s making us happy this week. (Trey’s happiness can be found here.)

Find us on Facebook, or follow us on Twitter: Me, Stephen, Glen, Trey, and Mike. And for heaven’s sake, remember you can get the podcast every week delivered directly to you if you sign up for NPR’s arts and culture podcast, Culturetopia, which will also give you our weekly roundup of arts and culture stories.
