Pop Culture Happy Hour: Meryl Streep’s Hair Beckons, As Does Dillon, Texas

Filed by KOSU News in Art & Life.
November 11, 2011

On this week’s Pop Culture Happy Hour, I have returned from my spa vacation (that is a true statement, believe it or not), but Stephen Thompson is on a staycation with his Zaxxon machine. Thus, Trey Graham, Glen Weldon and I are joined by our esteemed producer Mike Katzif for a discussion of upcoming movies in the winter/awards season. Are we excited for the new Diablo Cody effort? For Meryl Streep’s Margaret Thatcher hair? You’ll have to listen and see.

And then, it’s a segment we particularly enjoyed, in which we talk about television shows that use music particularly well — in themes, in scenes, and otherwise. We drool over some old favorites (think football and Justin Timberlake) and also bring up some new choices.

And, of course, we’ll tell you what’s making us happy this week, and who shouldn’t be happy? Nobody, that’s who.

Find us on Facebook, where you can talk to us about the winter movies you are looking forward to (we were NOT trying to hit every single one), tell us your favorite music moments in television, and — because there’s no reason on earth not to — tell us what’s making you happy this week.
