The newly-formed World Reining League is setting up shop in Oklahoma City.

Governor Mary Fallin welcomed the group which produces competitive horsing events across the country.

Fallin says the World Reining League will help solidify Oklahoma’s reputation as the Horse Show Capitol of the World.

“Tourists, visitors who will come to the world reining league, certainly the wonderful horsemen who will come and perform and the teams and overall boost our economy.”

She says the horse industry contributes more than $3 billion into Oklahoma’s economy and involves more than 100,000 Oklahomans.

The inaugural event is scheduled for the weekend of January 19th at the State Fair Grounds in Oklahoma City.
