The newest member of the State Senate gets sworn in to fill a district which only lasts one year.

District 43’s new Senator Greg Childers is working quickly to decide if he still has time to buy a house south of the metro to run as an incumbent in 2012.

Childers says whatever the decision his family will be there to support him.

“I couldn’t ask for any better they have been just absolutely supportive through this entire process. They’re excited. They’re excited to stay. They’re excited to do whatever we need to do as a family.”

SD 43 was moved after redistricting, and state law says he has to be in the new district six-months before filing April 10th which would have been October 10th.

But, he says he might also have until the redistricting law takes effect on November First.
